There are many ways our dogs come into our care. Some are through the local shelters, owners who can no longer care for their dogs, and some are strays that are not claimed.

SSAR fully vets every animal in our care. All dogs are microchipped, dewormed, have age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered, heart worm tested and current on flea and tick as well as heartworm prevention. 

We use a licensed vet that evaluates every dog on intake.  While this does cost us a bit more, we feel it's the most ethical way to make sure each pet is seen and cared for properly and any health concerns are addressed.

Once the pup has been medically evaluated and fully vetted, they will then go into a foster home where they get individual care and love as a part of a family.  

Behavioral evaluation starts the moment they come into our care. During behavioral evaluation, we pinpoint any behavior issues and work on them. We work on house, crate and leash walking. We see how the dog is with other dogs of all ages and sizes as well as kids and cats.  

If the dog has the ability to be a service dog, therapy dog or emotional support dog we will work to target those behaviors and place that pup accordingly.

We require an application submitted and approved prior to meeting the pup. This saves time for everyone.
Once we receive your application, we will process it and ask any additional questions we may have. We encourage you to ask any questions as well.

Once your application is approved, we will set up time and place for you and your family (all humans and dogs in the home must attend) to meet the pup. If all goes well at that time you will finalize the adoption by signing a contract and paying your adoption fee.

After your adoption is complete if at any time you have questions, comments or concerns we encourage you again to please reach out to us so we can help the adoption be successful for everyone.

We do adopt out of area but do not ship our pups. You must be willing to come to our area and meet the pup you are interested in. We do ask for a video of the area your dog will live like the yard, kennel area, and play area.

Our adoption fee's range from $175-$300.

We do occasionally take other animals (cats, guinea pigs etc) we only do this when we have available fosters.
